In case of accidents
Accidents may occur no matter where you are driving in the world. Every country has its own regulations and procedures in such cases and Nepal differs from most countries in this respect. In Nepal the unwritten rule is that the bigger one pays. When a car hits you it pays for all damages and costs, when you hit a pedestrian you pay, same goes for vehicles among each other. The bigger vehicle will have to cover all money related issues.
This includes hospital bills in case of physical injuries. Once again nothing to worry about as medical costs in Nepal are far from being comparable with the western ones. Stitches cost 10 Euros and an X-Ray costs even less. Fractures will cost more to get looked after but it should all be affordable. If you're injured your insurance may cover the cost but it all depends on the hospital you're around. Furthermore if you're the one causing the injury you may be obliged to pay for a compensation for the after-treatment or damage caused to other vehicles or even the clothing of the injured.
In terms of getting things figured on the spot, it varies again upon your location. Your chances of getting a quick response to an accident (police, ambulance) are higher in bigger cities. On the highway it can take up to hours before an ambulance reaches the spot and for the police to get to your destination from the nearest headquarters or post. To end on this note the recorded number of motorbike accidents on highwaysis far less than those of buses driving off into ravines.
