Chitwan

Chitwan National Park is the first national park in Nepal. Formerly called Royal Chitwan National Park it was established in 1973 and granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. It covers an area of 932 km2 and is located in the subtropical Inner Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal.. In altitude it ranges from about 100m  in the river valleys to 815m in the Churia Hills.

Chitwan itself is not grand or as vivid as many other Nepali cities, but it has its own attractions.. The activities vary from jungle walks to safari trips, elephant rides, river tours and much more.

For Bikers: The distance from Kathmandu is a comfortable 145 kilometers which can be done in 3 hours (without stops). If you’re heading towards the east or the west of Nepal (Lumbini for instance) you can make this your first stop.
